授業の目的及び概要 The course is a continuation of 英語CIII, and aims to further develop students' communicative ability and learning strategies, especially listening comprehension ability, speaking and functional communication skills. The main objective of the course is to encourage the students to develop skills that enable them to be functional, competent and confident whilst communicating in English. The course is directed at being supportive of each individual and assisting the students to extend as well as gain confidence in the use of their communicative skills. A positive and co-operative approach will be important in respect of achieving the aims and objectives of the course as well as to assist in fulfilling the needs of the students.
履修条件 The course will be aimed at a high beginner to upper intermediate level depending on the class and is geared towards preparing students to study abroad.

学修の到達目標 To develop efficient, effective and functional communication skills. To develop and nurture approaches and methods for managing communication in L2.

Preparation for study abroad helps develop skills for coping with challenges encountered in international communication events. Studying abroad and overcoming linguistic and cultural challenges helps prepare students to take an active role in their professional lives.
授業の方法 Classes will be conducted using the text as the basis for listening and speaking tasks that will be directed towards complementing the skills required for TOEIC preparation. Individual, pair and group work will form the basis of the communicative class activities. There will be written accomplishment tasks and assignments that will be have to word processed in English and will form the basis of oral speeches, interviews and presentations. The oral presentations will complement the topics covered in the aural and oral aspects of the course. Furthermore, these classes will consist of 20 students or less.
授業外の学修(予習・復習等) Preparation and review are necessary for every class.
Check all the words you are not sure with dictionary before you come to class.

成績評価の基準・方法 Assessment will be based on, attendance, participation, presentations, assignments and quizzes, completion of assessed and required tasks and a final test.

この科目の履修にあたって This course will be conducted in English to help students become used to the demands of an interactive classroom. It is expected that students' listening ability and pragmatic speaking ability will be further developed from participation in class. Please try to use any English that you can and do not worry about making mistakes.
