Our activities
include holding monthly research meetings and collaborative
research meetings, collecting books and other materials,
publishing the Annals of the General Sciences Institute
and sponsoring lectures on academic and cultural topics.
The institute and the City of Yao have jointly sponsored
the "Yao Citizens' University Lectures" since
1981. A wide range of topics is discussed including history,
culture, economics and current legal issues. Our goal
is to implement activities rooted in the local community.
Details of these lectures are reported in the Annals of
the General Sciences Institute which is widely distributed
both on and off campus.
Regarding activities directly related to our students,
the institute conducts lectures on academic and cultural
issues. Also, many study groups on specific themes have
been set up to promote research activities related to
education and its methodology. These study groups have
included the following topics: General Education, Philosophy,
History of Science and Technology, General Physical Education,
The Kawachi Region, Language, Japanese Language Education,
Human Rights, Minorities and Environmental Issues. The
results of these study groups are reported publicly. |
